Due to COVID-19, we do not have any events planned for the 2020 garden season. For your inspiration, here are some of our past events:

1. Oak St. Community Garden, Oak St. & Brant Ave.
Annual Harvest Party!

11:30-2 pm Pizza! Come enjoy pizza made from our garden’s own
portable pizza oven. It’s a potluck to round out the meal – bring a dish
to share. Bring your own instrument to join in on the jam afterwards!
1-2 pm Covercrop workshop – come learn about the benefits of
covercrops and get seeds to take home for your garden
The garden has water and a portable toilet on site.

2. Lakeside Community Garden, Days Rd & Front Rd (behind Centre 70)

10-11:30 am Introduction to Fruit Tree Guilds workshop with Joyce Hostyn: A fruit tree guild is an edible plant community with a fruit (or nut) tree at the centre. Learn how to combine multi-functional plant species in layers to create a beautiful plant community that not only provides you with food, but supports pollinators and birds, stores water, improves soil fertility, increases pest resistance and captures carbon.

11 am-1 pm Garden work party and free pizza for volunteers: Join us in between workshops for a free pizza lunch and to help with garden jobs including mulching pathways, weeding and turning compost. Please bring reusable water bottles and gardening gloves.
1-2 pm Tomato Seed Saving workshop with KASSI: Kingston Area Seed System Initiative is growing beautiful heirloom tomatoes at Lakeside. We will be on hand to demo tomato seed-saving so you can save your seeds too! There will be tomatoes for tasting.
3. Calvin Park Community Garden (200 Norman Rogers Dr.)
1:30-3:30 pm Open House! Come learn about Companion Gardening and meet the gardeners. All are welcome!
4. Elmwood Community Garden (behind the church at 193 Bath Rd.)
9:30-10:30 am Open House! Come meet the gardeners and enjoy coffee, juice and muffins. All are welcome!

5. Friendship Park Community Garden (corner of Chestnut St & Carlisle St.)
12-2 pm Open House! Come meet the gardeners and join the picnic. Bring your lunch and a blanket. All are welcome!
6. Ongwanada Community Garden (114 Wright Cr.)
11-11:30 am Open House! Come see the new accessible garden initiatives. All are welcome!
